Concrete Patios in Spokane, WA

Concrete Patios From Spokane's "Patio King"
A good patio turns your backyard into a room you’ll actually use, from the first warm evening in spring to the last fire of the fall. Owner Dan Deviny has built a reputation around Spokane as the “Patio King”. He’s known for taking on the patios other contractors pass on: odd shapes, tricky slopes, multiple levels, and tight backyards with no room for a truck. All Phase Concrete has been pouring residential concrete for over 25 years in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Greenacres and Otis Orchards.
New patios and patio replacement
Some homeowners call us for a brand-new patio off the back door. Others have a slab that’s cracked, sunken or pulling away from the house. In that case we tear the old patio out, fix the ground underneath and pour new. Our concrete removal page covers the tear-out side. If the patio is mostly sound with a few problem spots, a concrete repair may make more sense, and we’ll tell you honestly.
How we build a patio
- Design and layout. At the free consultation we measure the space and talk through how you’ll use it, whether that’s dining, a grill station, a hot tub or a fire pit. Then we mark out a shape that fits your yard. Patios don’t have to be rectangles. Curves, wraparounds and multi-level designs are what Dan is known for.
- Grading and drainage. A patio has to slope slightly away from your house so water runs off instead of toward your foundation. Getting this right matters more than any finish you pick.
- Base and reinforcement. We compact a gravel base and reinforce every patio with 3/8 rebar, so the slab holds together as the ground moves through Spokane’s freeze-thaw cycles.
- The pour and finish. We place and finish the concrete, apply any stamp or color, and cut control joints. The joints keep normal shrinkage cracks in straight, planned lines.
- Cleanup and curing. We clean up the site and tell you when the patio is ready for foot traffic and when it’s ready for furniture, a grill or a hot tub.
Patio finish and design options
- Broom finish. Clean, simple and slip resistant. It’s the most budget-friendly choice.
- Stamped concrete. Patterns that look like flagstone, slate, brick or wood plank, for a fraction of the cost of real stone or pavers.
- Colored concrete. Integral color or stain to match your siding, trim or landscaping.
- Exposed aggregate. A textured, natural stone look that hides wear well.
- Borders and accents. A stamped or colored border around a broom-finished center gives you a custom look on a smaller budget.
Planning for a hot tub, fire pit or cover
Tell us at the consultation if you’re planning a hot tub, a pergola, a covered patio or a fire pit, even if it’s a few years off. A hot tub is a lot of weight sitting in one spot. Posts for a cover need footings. Gas or electrical lines are much easier to run before the concrete goes in.
What a patio costs in Spokane
A basic 12 by 12 foot patio usually runs $1,500 to $4,000 in the Spokane area. Stamped or colored patios run about $12 to $20 per square foot. Site prep, size, access to the backyard and the finish you choose are the biggest cost factors. Our Spokane concrete cost guide has the full breakdown, and the free consultation gets you an exact price.
Caring for a new patio
- Keep heavy furniture and the grill off the slab until we say it’s cured enough.
- Seal it every few years to slow down water and stain absorption.
- Avoid rock salt the first winter. Use sand for traction instead.
A well-built patio should last decades with very little upkeep.

Concrete Patio FAQs
How much does a concrete patio cost in Spokane?
A basic concrete patio runs about $6 to $10 per square foot, while stamped or colored patios run $12 to $20. A standard 12 by 12 patio typically lands between $1,500 and $4,000 depending on the finish. We provide free on-site estimates.
What is the best time of year to pour a concrete patio in Spokane?
Late spring through early fall is ideal, when temperatures stay above 50 degrees and there is no risk of frost. Concrete can be poured in cooler weather with precautions, but the Spokane pouring season generally runs from April through October.
Can concrete patios be stamped or colored?
Yes. Stamped concrete can mimic brick, stone, or pavers, and integral color or stains offer a wide range of looks. Decorative finishes cost more than plain concrete but are far cheaper than natural stone while giving a similar appearance.
Do concrete patios crack?
All concrete can develop hairline cracks over time, which is why we place control joints to direct where any cracking happens. Proper base preparation and reinforcement keep patios structurally sound, and minor surface cracks are normal and easily maintained.
How long does a concrete patio last?
A well-built concrete patio lasts 25 to 30 years or more. Proper base preparation, control joints, and periodic sealing protect it from Spokane’s freeze-thaw cycles and keep the surface from cracking or spalling.
